Jammu, May 22 : In preparation for the third tourism working group meeting of the G20 countries, which is set to commence in Srinagar on Monday, security has been intensified at public places, including bus terminals, in Jammu.
Earlier in the day, approximately 60 foreign delegates arrived in Srinagar for the meeting. This significant event marks the first international meeting held in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 and the division of the state into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, in August 2019.
Officials have established checkpoints throughout the city, where vehicles are being stopped and searched. Increased frisking of individuals and thorough verification of identification documents are being carried out at bus terminals. In light of potential infiltration threats, security has been heightened in Poonch, Kathua, Rajouri, and Samba districts, particularly focusing on border areas.
Stringent security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the smooth and incident-free conclusion of the event.
