Kashmir, July 06 : According to an official statement, on Wednesday, a total of 18,354 pilgrims departed from both the Baltal and Nunwan base camps to visit the Amarnath cave shrine and successfully completed the darshan. The breakdown of the pilgrims included 12,483 males, 5,146 females, 457 children, 266 sadhus, and 2 sadhvis.
The statement further mentioned that the cumulative number of yatris who have performed the darshan since the beginning of the pilgrimage has reached 67,566. It is anticipated that more yatris will visit the shrine in the upcoming days.
To ensure a smooth and convenient journey for the devotees, state agencies and civil departments are providing comprehensive assistance. Various departments such as the Police, SDRF, Army, paramilitary forces, Health, PDD, PHE, ULB, Information, Labour, Fire and Emergency, Education, and Animal Husbandry have deployed their personnel and resources to meet the requirements and arrangements of the pilgrimage.
Under the supervision of Camp directors, a wide range of facilities are being extended to the yatris, including langers (community kitchens), health services, and assistance from service providers such as poniwallahs, pithuwalas, and dandiwalas. Additionally, proper sanitation and various other forms of support are also being provided.
The Shri Amarnath Yatra, spanning 62 days, is scheduled to conclude on August 31, 2023.
