JAMMU, Apr 24: The search operation to track down the terrorists involved in the recent Poonch terror attack has entered its fourth day, with over 40 individuals detained for questioning, according to officials. Additional troops have been deployed to intensify the cordon-and-search operation in Bhata Dhurian-Tota Gali and surrounding areas. The attack occurred on Thursday, resulting in the death of five army personnel and serious injury to a sixth, when their vehicle caught fire during the attack. The investigation suggests that the terrorists hid in a culvert before attacking the army truck. During the search operation, troops found natural cave hideouts that could have been used by the terrorists in the past. The army truck was carrying fruits, vegetables, and other items from the Bhimber Gali camp to Sangiote village for an Iftar celebration. The Bhimber Gali-Poonch road, which was closed for vehicular traffic following the attack, has now been reopened. Various agencies, including the National Security Guard and the National Investigation Agency, are investigating the incident. In solidarity with the slain soldiers, hundreds of people in Kishtwar took out a candlelight march. Army’s Northern Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi assured that necessary action to catch the terrorists responsible for the attack is underway.
