New Delhi, Apr 29 : The wife of Naik Deepak Singh, who was martyred in the Galwan Valley clash in 2020, has been commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army and posted to a frontline base in eastern Ladakh, officials confirmed on Saturday. After completing her one-year training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, Lt. Rekha Singh is now serving at a base along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Naik Singh, a Nursing Assistant from the 16th Battalion of Bihar Regiment, was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra in 2021. The Army tweeted about Lt. Singh’s commissioning, acknowledging Naik Singh’s supreme sacrifice during the Galwan Valley clashes.
