Doda : As India readies itself to commemorate its 77th Independence Day this coming Tuesday, the fervor of patriotism is sweeping through Jammu and Kashmir. In the district of Doda, the Ganpat Bridge shone brightly adorned with the hues of the Tricolour on Sunday evening, accompanied by a grand Tiranga rally to mark this significant occasion.
A video, shared by the Doda District Administration, captures the spectacle of numerous individuals carrying an extensive Indian flag high above their heads, their voices resounding with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
Earlier on the same Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, inaugurated the ‘Tiranga Rally’ from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) to the Botanical Garden by the banks of Dal Lake. This rally was a prelude to the upcoming ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration preceding Independence Day.
Under the banner of this celebration, Lieutenant Governor Sinha voiced his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for instilling enthusiasm and unity among the people of Kashmir. He remarked, “Today, the skies of Jammu and Kashmir radiate with the tricolour. The youth today hold the tricolour high, showcasing their passion and devotion.”
Emphasizing the spirit of ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ (My Soil, My Country) and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (The Flag in Every Home), the Lieutenant Governor expressed his confidence in the unwavering dedication of the people to partake in this historic festivity.
Dilbagh Singh, Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, also took an active role in the Tiranga rally. He conveyed a sense of pride, stating, “We take immense pride in being a part of today’s ‘Tiranga Rally’. This year’s rally surpassed the scale of last year’s. Our collective aim is to contribute to the nation’s peace. All requisite security measures are in place for Independence Day.”
Furthermore, ADGP (Additional Director General of Police) Kashmir Vijay Kumar highlighted the augmented security arrangements in anticipation of Independence Day. He noted, “LG Manoj Sinha led the Tiranga Rally… Stringent security arrangements have been established ahead of the Independence Day rally.”
In light of Independence Day, the District Administration of Anantnag, in collaboration with the Municipal Committee of Dooru Anantnag, Jammu Kashmir Police, local schools, and the CRPF, orchestrated the longest Tiranga Rally ever held in South Kashmir as part of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” (My Land, My Country) campaign on Saturday.
Previously, as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” (Celebration of 75 Years of Independence), the police organized various events to observe “Meri Maati Mera Desh-Mitti Ko Naman Veroon Ka Vandan” (My Land, My Country – Homage to the Soil and Salutation to the Warriors), a nationwide campaign, at different police establishments across the Kashmir valley. The campaign gained momentum on its third day, featuring an array of impactful activities.
The grand Tiranga Rally exuded a fervent atmosphere of patriotism and nationalism.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged Indians to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (The Flag in Every Home) movement from August 13 to 15. PM Modi underlined that the Indian flag encapsulates the essence of freedom and national unity, urging citizens to share their photos with the Tricolour on the dedicated ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ website.
Meanwhile, approximately 1,800 special guests from across India are slated to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flag-hoisting ceremony at the Red Fort on Independence Day, creating a momentous occasion.
