NEW DELHI, Oct 4: The Government of India announced a significant increase in the subsidy provided to women beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme, as stated by Union Minister Anurag Thakur. The subsidy per cylinder has been raised from the existing Rs 200 to Rs 300.
Under the Ujjwala scheme, beneficiaries presently pay Rs 703 for a 14.2-kg cylinder, compared to the market price of Rs 903. Following the decision of the Union Cabinet, their cost will now reduce to Rs 603 per cylinder. This move is aimed at further supporting and easing the financial burden on women who have benefited from the Ujjwala initiative.
