New Delhi, May 9: India has recorded 1,331 fresh COVID-19 infections, resulting in a decrease in the number of active cases to 22,742 from 25,178, as per the updated data from the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday. The total COVID-19 tally now stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,72,800). The death toll has reached 5,31,707 with 11 new fatalities, as stated in the data updated at 8 am.
The active cases, at 22,742, represent 0.06% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.76%, according to the ministry.
The number of recovered individuals has risen to 4,44,18,351, and the case fatality rate stands at 1.18%.
As per the ministry’s website, a total of 220.66 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered thus far under the nationwide vaccination drive. (Agencies)
