Kashmir, June 26 : As part of their efforts to ensure a secure and successful Amarnath pilgrimage in the snowy mountains of Kashmir, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, based in the valley, is actively engaged in restoring the two tracks leading to the holy cave shrine. Additionally, they have established a robust communication system across the challenging terrain.
In order to facilitate track maintenance towards the Holy Cave for the Yatra, specialist engineering equipment was airlifted and inducted at Panjtarni on Saturday. To address any contingencies during the Yatra, a new helipad has been constructed near the Holy Cave.
During a visit to the Baltal axis of the Yatra, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) IAF J&K received a briefing on the arrangements in place for a smooth pilgrimage experience and coordinated efforts for disaster management.
The Northern Army Commander, Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, recently assessed the security arrangements, while the Commander of the Chinar Corps, Lt. General Rajiv Ghai, is regularly reviewing the situation.
To ensure seamless communication 24/7, Chinar Signallers have established Communication Detachments on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, utilizing optical fiber cables laid in rugged terrain.
In order to provide emergency medical assistance to pilgrims, the Army has set up Medical Aid Posts at Domel, Bararimarg, Sangam Base, and an ADS (Advanced Dressing Station) at Neelgrar.
The Army actively participated in a mock exercise conducted by the National Disaster Management Authority of India, focusing on contingency management along the Southern Axis at Pahalgam.
These efforts by the Indian Army demonstrate their commitment to facilitating a safe and smooth Amarnath pilgrimage, ensuring the well-being of the pilgrims amidst the challenging terrain.
