New Delhi, May 11 : In response to the approaching Cyclone Mocha, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has swiftly activated its preparedness measures to ensure the safety of lives and properties in the potentially affected regions. The ICG’s proactive approach began on May 3, upon detecting the initial signs of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.
Dedicated to minimizing the impact of the cyclone, the ICG has undertaken preventive and pre-emptive actions in West Bengal and Odisha. A specialized team has been assembled to monitor preparations and collaborate closely with civil agencies, aiming to mitigate any threats posed by the impending cyclonic storm.
To effectively disseminate timely warnings, ICG ships and aircraft have been strategically deployed at sea, broadcasting alerts to fishing boats and merchant vessels. This proactive communication aims to ensure that maritime stakeholders are well-informed and can take necessary precautions.
With a strong emphasis on readiness, all ICG units, including aviation assets, are operating at a heightened state of readiness to swiftly respond to any emergent maritime search and rescue operations, as well as provide critical disaster relief assistance.
The Indian Coast Guard’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding coastal communities is evident in their comprehensive preparations and proactive response to the impending Cyclone Mocha. By coordinating efforts and maintaining a vigilant stance, the ICG is poised to effectively address the challenges that may arise and fulfill its crucial role in protecting lives and property along the affected coastal areas.
