New Delhi, May 6 : India witnessed a daily increase of 2,961 Covid infections, as reported by the Union Health Ministry’s latest data update on Saturday. Encouragingly, the number of active cases decreased from 33,232 to 30,041 within a day. The total death toll due to Covid-19 has risen to 5,31,659, with 17 additional fatalities, including nine reconciled cases from Kerala, as per the 8 am update. India’s cumulative Covid infection tally now stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,67,250) following the latest cases. On a positive note, a significant number of individuals, amounting to 4,44,05,550, have successfully recovered from the disease, resulting in active cases comprising only 0.07 percent of the total infections. The country’s national COVID-19 recovery rate has reached an impressive 98.75 percent, while the case fatality rate remains at 1.18 percent, according to the ministry. In terms of vaccination progress, India has administered an impressive 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccines so far under the nationwide vaccination drive, as reported on the health ministry’s website.
