Jammu, 26/July/2023: All Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference(JK_BADC), a registered organization working for the welfare of residents of border areas of J & K has urged the administration of all the Public Universities situated in union territory of J & K including University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University(BGSBU), Sri Mata Vaishno Devi University(SMVDU), Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) Awantipora and both the central universities to launch special short term job oriented courses in their campus so that the J & K youth can be provided special skills and are able to earn their source of livelihood with dignity.
Dr Shazad Ahmed Malik, Chairman of the BADC and former Vice Chancellor in a statement has stated that as there are almost negligible academic based government jobs left in J & K thus it is imperative that youth of J & K are encouraged to learn special skills through short term certificate and diploma courses so that they get opportunities in Private sector as well and they become competent to earn their own sources of livelihood through own ventures and provide employment to others also.
Former Vice Chancellor also requested the public universities here in J & K to focus on Online and Distance learning programs both Graduate and Post Graduate degree courses so that already working people are also able to continue their studies for their career up gradation . He said unlike other universities in India, the pace of adopting information technology means for imparting education to students in J & K universities is very slow which needs to be paced up. He also reiterated his demand of establishing a Law College in border District Poonch.
