Jammu, May 5 : Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a Special Police Officer (SPO), Javed Ahmed, who was dismissed from service for his alleged involvement in drug peddling in Doda district. Ahmed was attached to the district police lines in Doda and was caught with cannabis in his possession after reliable sources informed the police that he was engaged in illegal narcotics trade. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against him, and an investigation is underway. The department also initiated an inquiry against him for service misconduct, which found him guilty of illegal trade in charas. The police have appealed to the public for cooperation in their efforts to eradicate the drug menace from society and warned that any civil or police department employee found engaged in narcotics trade will face strict action.
