Jammu : Jammu’s bicycle-sharing system, which was launched in May 2022, is about to complete one year of operations, having recorded 2.89 lakh rides. The project, which was implemented by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), aimed to promote eco-friendly transportation options and reduce traffic congestion in the city.
The Jammu Bicycle Sharing System (JBSS) consists of 250 bicycles and 25 docking stations located across the city. The bicycles are available for rent through a mobile app, and users can pick up and drop off the bicycles at any of the docking stations.
According to JMC officials, the JBSS has been a success, with a steady increase in the number of users since its launch. The service has been particularly popular among college students and office-goers, who use it for short commutes and leisurely rides.
The JBSS has also helped reduce traffic congestion in the city and contributed to a cleaner environment. The JMC plans to expand the project in the coming years by adding more bicycles and docking stations across the city.
As Jammu’s bicycle-sharing system completes one year of operations, the JMC is planning to celebrate the occasion by organizing awareness campaigns and events to encourage more people to use the eco-friendly transportation option.
