Jammu, October 7th: After a hiatus of over three decades, cricket enthusiasts in Jammu are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Legends League Cricket season, which is set to feature renowned cricketers on the field. The tournament is scheduled to take place in five cities across India, including the revered ‘city of temples.’
The Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu will be the venue for three of the Legends League Cricket matches. According to an official announcement from the league’s organizers, this season will span five cities: Jammu, Ranchi, Dehradun, Vizag, and Surat.
The second season of the franchise edition of Legends League Cricket is poised to kick off from November 18th and run through December 9th, encompassing a total of 19 matches.
The historic Maulana Azad Stadium, established in 1966 and situated along the picturesque banks of the Tawi River, boasts a seating capacity of 20,000. The last international match held at this venue took place on December 19, 1988, featuring India and New Zealand. The stadium also serves as one of the home grounds for the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team.
Apart from Jammu, the Legends League Cricket will visit four additional venues, with Ranchi hosting the first five matches. Dehradun is set to host three matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, followed by Vizag, which will host the remaining three league stage matches. The final leg of Legends League Cricket Season 2 will be hosted by Surat at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium.
The league organizers expressed their aim to provide fans in these cities with an unparalleled cricketing experience, with over 100 international cricketers participating in these matches.
Compared to the previous season, which featured teams competing in 15 matches at major venues across the country, including the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata and Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, this season will showcase 19 matches across five venues. Legends League Cricket Season 2 promises to be even more grand and exciting.
Raman Raheja, Co-Founder and CEO of Legends League Cricket, stated, “I am delighted to announce that Legends League Cricket is expanding its reach to the city of Jammu for the upcoming season. This move reflects our commitment to bringing cricket to every corner of the nation, and it holds special significance as the city is poised to witness a tournament of this magnitude for the first time. The enthusiasm surrounding legends was tremendous in the stadiums and cities where we played in India last year. For the first time in history, we had over 80 legends gathered in a city like Jodhpur. Almost all matches witnessed a full house. We anticipate a similar response from the audience here.”
Ravi Shastri, Commissioner of Legends League Cricket, remarked, “The game is growing bigger with each passing day at Legends League Cricket. With more players joining, we must keep the excitement alive and provide fans with the opportunity to witness top-notch competitive cricket at these new venues. Legends are set to shine brightly this season.”
