SRINAGAR, May 3: On May 3rd, fresh rains began in Kashmir, and the meteorological department has predicted intermittent light to moderate rain with scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. From May 4th to 6th, the weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with a brief spell of rain and thunderstorms likely in the late afternoon or evening. However, from May 7th to 8th, rain is expected in many places.
Tourists are advised to keep warmer clothes, as the weather is expected to be colder until May 8th. The temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 10.4°C, which was 0.7°C below normal for the summer capital. Qazigund recorded a low of 8.8°C, which was 0.3°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir. Pahalgam recorded a low of 5.2°C, which was 0.3°C above normal for the tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Kokernag recorded a low of 7.4°C, which was 1.0°C below normal for the place. Gulmarg recorded a low of 3.5°C, which was 0.8°C below normal for the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 8.7°C, which was 0.8°C below normal for the north Kashmir area.
Jammu recorded a low of 18.8°C, which was 4.0°C below normal for Jammu and Kashmir’s winter capital. Banihal recorded a low of 10.8°C, which was 0.7°C above normal, Batote recorded 10.2°C, which was 2.3°C below normal, and Katra recorded 15.4°C, which was 3.8°C below normal.
