Jammu, September 27 : Katra town in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district is all set to embrace the Navratri festival with a series of vibrant programs scheduled to commence on October 15, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SMVD Shrine Board, confirmed the dates for the annual Navratri festival, extending from October 15 to October 23 in Katra town. The festivities will kick off at the Yog Ashram Ground in Katra, inaugurating a grand celebration that encompasses a Shobha yatra and an array of events highlighting the rich cultural heritage of both Jammu and Kashmir and India as a whole.
The nine-day extravaganza will feature various congregational programs such as ‘Prabhat Pheri,’ recitations of ‘Mata ki Kahani,’ devotional song competitions, Ram Leela performances, and ‘Dangalm’ events. Additionally, wrestling competitions will be held, alongside remarkable performances by specially-abled children and a diverse range of cultural activities.
Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar undertook a comprehensive review of preparations for the upcoming annual Navratri festival, emphasizing the need for thorough town beautification, sanitation, essential services, traffic management, and emergency services. Kumar instructed officers to ensure cleanliness from Domel to Katra town throughout the Navratri festivities, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a pristine environment.
Kumar expressed optimism that the festival would not only attract more tourists but also promote religious and pilgrimage tourism in the region, adding to the cultural vibrancy and heritage of the area. As the preparations intensify, anticipation grows for the Navratri festival’s grand commencement on October 15 in Katra.
