Jammu and Kashmir, Apr 29 : The Sinthan Maidan in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir is set to host the two-day Sinthan Snow Festival-2023 from today till April 30th, organized by the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, and Kishtwar Tourism Development Authority (KTDA). The event is a collaboration between the District Administration Kishtwar, the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), and the Army, and is expected to draw both locals and tourists alike.
The festival will showcase a variety of activities, including a Bike Rally, Paragliding, Snow Kayaking, Fun Snow activities, Local cultural performances, and competitions. Visitors can participate in skiing, sledging, snow kayaking, snow scooter rides, and more. Additionally, a trekking expedition from Pathramorh to Sinthan Maidan, organized jointly with the Forest Department, is also on the itinerary. Other attractions include horse riding, treasure hunt game, volleyball, marathon, and tug of war.
The event will feature live performances from both local and celebrity singers, with Kishtwar Idol Finale and Inter College Group Dance Competition also taking place. Sinthan Maidan, already a popular spot for skiers and trekkers, is expected to attract even more visitors with this festival, highlighting the stunning natural surroundings of the region.
The Sinthan Top, a mountain pass between Breng Valley in the Anantnag district of Kashmir division and Kishtwar district of Chenab Valley in the Jammu division, is the highest motorable mountain pass that connects Kishtwar district in Jammu division with Anantnag district in Kashmir division, and is located at an altitude of 12, 414 feet above sea level. The region’s alpine pastures offer a spectacular natural beauty and a 360-degree view of both the Jammu and Kashmir regions. The Tourism Department expects an enthusiastic response from visitors across the country.
