Jammu, August 2: Today, a group of 984 pilgrims embarked on their journey from the Bhagwati Nagar camp in Jammu, commencing their pilgrimage to the revered Amarnath cave shrine, located at an elevation of 3,880 meters in Kashmir.
Since the commencement of the 62-day-long annual pilgrimage on July 1, more than 4 lakh devotees have already paid their respects at the shrine. The pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 31.
Among the 984 pilgrims in this batch, 498 will be following the traditional 48-km Pahalgam track in the Anantnag district, while 486 are taking the 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district, as confirmed by officials.
So far, a total of 1.41 lakh pilgrims have departed from the Jammu base camp to begin their spiritual journey to the valley.
