Patna, June 24: Mehbooba Mufti, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed her concerns on Saturday regarding the ruling BJP’s use of the state as a “laboratory” for their political experiments. In a press conference held in Patna, she voiced her apprehensions about the potential “Kashmirisation” of the entire country if the BJP were to return to power in the 2024 elections.
Mufti highlighted the perceived attack on the essence of India, citing the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the subsequent detention of several political leaders, including three former chief ministers. She alleged that what is being witnessed in Delhi today through central ordinances had already begun in their state, but few had recognized it at the time.
As the leader of the People’s Democratic Party and the vice chairperson of the Gupkar Declaration, Mufti expressed her concerns about the BJP’s future intentions. She warned that if the party were to regain power in 2024, it would not only disregard the constitution but also implement a process of “Kashmirisation” throughout the entire country. Mufti had previously governed in a coalition with the BJP before resigning from the alliance.
