Apr 15 : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated on Saturday that climate change is affecting our daily lives from various angles. During a panel discussion at a World Bank event, she emphasized the importance of behavioral change to tackle climate change, stating that repeated persuasion and talking about commonplace issues is crucial. Sitharaman mentioned India’s Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which encourages adopting sustainable lifestyles globally to combat environmental degradation and climate change. The initiative plans to create a global network of individuals committed to promoting environmentally friendly lifestyles. Sitharaman stressed the importance of more influential people talking about it to raise awareness. She also spoke at an IMF event about India’s Digital Public Infrastructure’s potential to benefit both public and private sectors, highlighting its innovative methods for efficient and inclusive service delivery.
