New Delhi : The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) achieved a significant milestone by enrolling 20.27 lakh fresh members into the Employees State Insurance Scheme during the month of June, as confirmed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
According to the ministry’s report, June saw the registration of around 24,298 new establishments, expanding the coverage of the ESIC’s social security umbrella.
Remarkably, the data underscores a positive trend in youth employment, revealing that out of the total new employee additions, which reached 20.27 lakh in June 2023, a substantial 9.77 lakh employees within the age bracket of 25 years or younger, constituting 48.22 percent of the total, have become part of the workforce.
When examining the gender distribution within the payroll data, it becomes apparent that 3.87 lakh female members were newly enrolled during June of the current year. Notably, the data further discloses that 71 transgender individuals have also embraced the benefits of the ESI Scheme during the same month.
The ministry remarked, “This indicates the unwavering commitment of ESIC to extending its advantages to all sections of society.” It’s essential to recognize that the payroll data remains provisional due to the continuous nature of data generation.
