Uttarakhand, June 22 : Over 30 lakh pilgrims have embarked on the ongoing Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, with Kedarnath alone witnessing over 10 lakh visitors, according to Ashok Kumar, Director General of Police. Efforts are being made to ensure a safe and seamless pilgrimage experience for devotees. The breakdown of pilgrim numbers reveals that Gangotri and Yamunotri welcomed 5,35,327 and 4,65,295 visitors respectively, while Badrinath received 8,98,221 devotees and Hemkund Sahib had 88,455 visitors. In anticipation of the monsoon season and to ensure a smooth yatra, the Uttarakhand government has prohibited state services employees from going on strike for the next six months. Earlier, the Registration Office cum Transit Camp for Char Dham Yatris was inaugurated in Rishikesh by Chief Minister Dhami at a cost of approximately Rs 22.25 crore. The Char Dham Yatra encompasses the revered shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, with their respective doors opening on auspicious dates in April.
