Imphal, Apr 24 : In a ‘Chintan Shivir‘ held in the Manipur capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the central and state sports ministers to collaborate in providing quality infrastructure to talented players across the country. He emphasized the need to formulate short and long term goals to make India a leading sports nation and increase local competitions for players to gain experience. PM Modi also highlighted the importance of ensuring no sporting talent is overlooked and involving all stakeholders, including the private sector. He suggested rethinking the National Youth Festival to make it more effective and extending improvements in sports infrastructure to the block level. The PM expressed confidence that the sports ministers would have a learning experience at the end of the ‘Chintan Shivir’, which began with contemplation and proceeded with rumination and implementation. Modi also noted the significant contributions of Northeast India and Manipur to the country’s sports tradition and highlighted the region’s indigenous games such as Sagol Kangjei, Thang-ta, and Yubi Lakpi.
