New Delhi , May 5 : Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to attend the Bastille Day parade in Paris as a guest of honour in July, according to officials. This invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron comes as a symbol of the growing ties between the two nations.
Modi is expected to attend the event on July 14, which marks the French National Day. This year’s parade will feature India’s National Security Guard (NSG) commandos for the first time, alongside troops from other nations.
The visit is seen as an opportunity to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and France, especially in the areas of defence, security, and economic cooperation. It is also a chance for the two leaders to discuss global issues, including climate change and the fight against terrorism.
Modi had last visited France in August 2019 to attend the G7 summit, where he had held bilateral meetings with Macron. This will be his first visit to the country since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
