Chandigarh, Apr 26 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chandigarh today to pay his last respects to former Punjab Chief Minister and Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 94.
According to sources, Modi is expected to arrive in Chandigarh in the afternoon and head straight to the residence of the late leader, where he will offer his condolences to Badal’s family members and pay his respects.
Badal, who was one of the most prominent political leaders in Punjab, had served as the Chief Minister of the state for five terms. He was also a Member of Parliament and a former Union Minister.
His death has been mourned by leaders across the political spectrum, with many paying tribute to his contributions to Punjab’s development and his long-standing service to the country.
