New Delhi, September 9 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the opening of the G20 Summit at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, urged the world to unite in order to transform the prevailing global trust deficit into a foundation of trust and reliance. He presented the mantra of “Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” as a guiding principle for this transformation.
Modi emphasized the significance of the 21st century in providing the world with a fresh perspective. He noted, “The 21st century is a crucial era for charting a new course for the world. This is a time when traditional challenges are demanding innovative solutions, and that’s why we must move forward, shouldering our responsibilities with a people-centric approach.”
As the President of the G20, he called upon the global community to collaboratively bridge the global trust deficit with trust and reliance. He stated, “Now is the moment for all of us to progress together. In this context, the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ can serve as our guiding light.”
The Prime Minister stressed that the world must come together to address the current challenges faced by humanity. He said, “Whether it’s bridging the gap between North and South, East and West, managing food and fuel resources, combating terrorism, enhancing cyber security, bolstering healthcare, ensuring energy and water security, we must find robust solutions for the sake of future generations.”
Prime Minister Modi also achieved a significant diplomatic milestone as G20 members agreed to grant the African Union permanent membership within the organization. During his opening remarks, he extended a warm welcome to African Union Chairman Azali Assoumani, inviting him to take a permanent seat within the G20.
The Prime Minister began his address by expressing condolences for the tragic loss of over 290 lives in Morocco due to an earthquake. He stated, “Before we commence the proceedings of the G20, I would like to convey my heartfelt condolences for the lives lost in Morocco due to the recent earthquake. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families. India stands ready to provide any assistance Morocco may require during this challenging time.”
