Panaji, August 23 : President Droupadi Murmu stated on Wednesday that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has been formulated to seamlessly integrate skill development, industry engagement, and employability, thereby fostering a comprehensive approach to education.
Addressing the 34th convocation ceremony of Goa University held at the Raj Bhavan in close proximity, President Murmu delivered her remarks in the presence of dignitaries including Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and other attendees.
Murmu emphasized that the NEP 2020 is designed to ensure high-quality education by implementing necessary measures. She underscored its core purpose, saying, “The NEP 2020 is devised to seamlessly integrate skill development, industry engagement, and employability, fostering a holistic education.”
In her address, Murmu also highlighted the imperative of promoting artificial intelligence and data science. She expressed confidence that the current generation of young students will contribute to shaping a developed India during the “sankalp kaal” (era of resolution).
During the convocation ceremony, President Murmu bestowed degrees upon the graduates and post-graduates who successfully completed their studies at Goa University.
President Murmu is undertaking a three-day visit to Goa, which commenced on Tuesday.
