In a significant order all Administrative Secretaries have been directed to furnish weekly Action Taken in resolving the grievances of the public to the General Administration Department for appraisal of the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
It is pertinent to mention here that all Administrative Secretaries were advised to fix time slots on a daily basis for meeting general public delegations, public representatives for hearing public grievances preferably between 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM either in their offices or on notified telephone numbers or through video conferences.
“It is accordingly, impressed upon all Administrative Secretaries to furnish the details of public interactions/grievances redressed by them on weekly basis to the General Administration Department on every Friday by 4:00 p.m. on the email ID [email protected] for appraisal of the Lieutenant Governor”, said a circular issued by government.
Meanwhile, the Government has directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) in the Union Territory to remain available in their offices between 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM every day except on tour days for meeting general public/delegations for redressal of their grievances.
DCs have been directed to take action taken report in this regard and share report on weekly basis with the General Administration Department (GAD), on email ID, [email protected]
UT administration has also directed that the practice of organizing Block Diwas shall be revived and immediately following Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and with due regard to other SoPs in place on account of the pandemic.
It is pertinent to mention here that on July 30, Government had directed all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure they spend two days a week in field visits to rural and far-flung areas of their respective districts to address the grievances of the people.
As per the order issued by General Administration Department (GAD), “Instructions have been issued from time to time impressing upon, among others, the Deputy Commissioners to undertake extensive tours within their districts particularly the far flung, remote and difficult areas. Besides bringing administration to door steps, such tours help in on spot resolution of many issues”.
The Deputy Commissioners were directed to ensure undertaking tours, field visits necessarily on every Wednesday and Saturday of a week and interact with the general public for resolution of their issues during these tours. They shall submit copies of their tour notes to the General Administration Department on quarterly basis.
