Srinagar, June 20: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Kashmir carried out searches in four districts of the valley as part of an investigation into the alleged misuse of social media platforms, according to an official statement. The raids took place in Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Kupwara.
The SIA, on June 20, 2023, successfully conducted searches at six locations across Kashmir, targeting individuals and groups suspected of engaging in unlawful and secessionist activities on social media. The ongoing investigation stems from a case registered under FIR No 05/2023 at the SIA/CIK Police Station, focusing on India-based social media entities collaborating with foreign associates to promote anti-India sentiment and support terror activities.
The searches, conducted before dawn, aimed to uncover evidence of individuals and organizations propagating secessionist ideologies and spreading hatred against India through various social media platforms. The identified entities are believed to have conspired with foreign associates to incite and support acts of terrorism, while also hindering government servants in performing their duties.
During the raids, SIA personnel seized significant digital and physical evidence, including mobile phones, SIM cards, and more. The collected evidence will undergo meticulous analysis to build a strong case against the accused individuals and organizations, ensuring a comprehensive investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
