Kashmir : The annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji in the South Kashmir Himalayas, along the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal, is proceeding without any hindrances in the Kashmir Valley. A total of 925 devotees have paid their respects at the holy cave shrine, contributing to a cumulative count of Four Lakh Thirty Eight Thousand Five Hundred and Eight pilgrims during the past 48 days of the Yatra period up until yesterday evening.
Coinciding with the ongoing annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, a significant ritual took place as the revered Chhari Mubarak, the holy mace symbolizing Lord Shiva, was reverently transported to the ancient “Sharika Bhawani” Temple located at Hari Parbat in Srinagar. This pilgrimage was conducted as an act of homage to Goddess Sharika on the auspicious occasion of Shravan Shukla Paksha Pratipada, meticulously following age-old traditions.
Preceding this event, the sacred mace had been taken to the historical Shankaracharaya Ji Temple on Gopadari Hills on the preceding Wednesday, where a ritualistic Rudrabhishek ceremony was solemnized. Anticipating forthcoming ceremonies, the Chhari Sathapana ritual is scheduled to transpire on the 19th of August at the Shri Amreshwar Temple in Srinagar. The traditional “Chhari Pujan” will be conducted to mark the occasion of Naag Panchami, observed on the 21st of this month.
