New Delhi, Apr 14 : According to updated data from the Union Health Ministry on Friday, India recorded 11,109 new coronavirus infections, the highest daily count in 236 days. The death toll increased to 5,31,064 with 29 new deaths reported. The data also showed that the daily positivity rate was 5.01%, while the weekly positivity rate was 4.29%.
Among the 29 new deaths, three each were reported from Delhi and Rajasthan, two each from Chhattisgarh and Punjab, and one each from Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. The total Covid case tally in India reached 4.47 crore (4,47,97,269), while the number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 4,42,16,586.
The active Covid cases now comprise only 0.11% of the total infections, and the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.70%, the ministry stated. Additionally, the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19%. According to the ministry’s website, India has administered 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
