Srinagar, Aug 5: Three Army soldiers lost their lives during a encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, according to officials. The incident took place when security forces conducted a cordon and search operation in the Halan forest area of Kulgam following credible intelligence about the presence of terrorists.
As the security forces closed in, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange. Three security personnel were injured in the gunfight and were provided with medical treatment, but unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army confirmed the operation in a tweet, stating that it was launched based on specific inputs about the terrorists’ presence. They also mentioned that search operations are ongoing.
Reinforcements have been deployed to the area, and the search operation has been intensified in response to the incident.
