New Delhi, August 7th – Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, accompanied by Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Party, and MP Rahul Gandhi, convened a crucial meeting with the party’s leadership delegation from Manipur. The primary focus of the discussion centered on the prevailing situation in the conflict-affected northeastern state.
Prominent figures in the Congress from Manipur, including former Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh – also holding the position of Congress Legislature Party leader in the state – were present at the rendezvous. The notable gathering took place at the Congress Parliamentary Party office within the Parliament complex.
Adding to the significance of the event, Congress General Secretary of Organisation, K C Venugopal, was a key participant during the deliberations. Further augmenting the representation were K Meghachandra Singh, Member of the Legislative Assembly and Chief of Manipur Pradesh Congress, as well as K Ranjit Singh, Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Manipur.
In solidarity with the cause, Lokeshwar Singh, MLA and Treasurer of Manipur Congress, also graced the meeting with his presence.
The Congress party’s consistent advocacy for addressing the turmoil in Manipur was underscored, as it continues to call for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide a comprehensive account to the Parliament regarding the strategies and measures being undertaken to reinstate tranquility and regularcy within the state.
