Jammu, Apr 12 : After remaining closed for several days due to landslides and heavy snowfall, both sides of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) have been reopened for traffic. According to reports, vehicles are now plying smoothly on the NHW, which is the lifeline of the region connecting Jammu with Srinagar.
However, authorities have urged motorists to follow lane discipline and exercise caution while driving on the highway, which is notorious for accidents and landslides. In the past, the NHW has been closed for days due to landslides, making it difficult for people to travel to and from the region.
The reopening of the NHW is a relief for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have been facing numerous challenges due to the inclement weather conditions. It is expected to ease the transportation of essential supplies and help restore normalcy in the region.
The authorities have also assured that they are keeping a close eye on the weather conditions and will take necessary steps to ensure the safety of the commuters. However, motorists are advised to remain cautious and follow all traffic rules to avoid any mishaps on the highway.
