New Delhi, May 8 : Unidentified Individual Threatens Revenge in Social Media Post Following Gangster Atiq Ahmed’s Killing; UP Police Initiates Investigation
An FIR has been registered at a cybercrime station in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, in response to a social media post that vowed to seek “revenge” for the murder of gangster Atiq Ahmed, according to police reports.
The complaint, filed by Mohammad Alamgir, led to the registration of the FIR by Prayagraj Police. The post in question was made by a Twitter account named ‘The Sajjad Mughal’. The FIR indicates that charges have been filed under Section 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66 of the Information Technology (IT) Act 2008. The police have commenced an investigation into the matter.
The tweet, attributed to ‘The Sajjad Mughal’ account, reads, “The breed is not over yet. Atiq’s son Ali is still alive. Insha Allah condition – time – power will change. The city will be called Allahabad. The revenge will be taken.” It is worth noting that gangsters Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead in April this year by individuals disguised as journalists during their transportation for a medical examination in Prayagraj. The assailants responsible for the killings were subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Atiq Ahmed had previously faced accusations related to the 2005 murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal, as well as the killing of a key witness in that case, Umesh Pal, in February of this year.
