Srinagar, July 15: The weather office in Srinagar has forecast generally cloudy skies with the potential for a spell of rain at certain places in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. According to a meteorological department official, the upcoming days, from July 16 to 20, are expected to remain mainly dry during most parts of the day. However, a brief spell of rain or thundershowers may occur at scattered places in Jammu in the early morning, late afternoon, and evening, while in the Kashmir Valley, it is likely to occur in the evening.
Intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers are anticipated at scattered places from July 21 to 22. The official added that there is no forecast of any major rainfall until July 25.
Regarding minimum temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of 20.2°C, which was 2.1°C below normal for the summer capital. Qazigund recorded a low of 16.8°C, slightly above normal for the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley. Pahalgam registered a low of 12.1°C, Kokernag recorded 16.5°C, Gulmarg saw 13.0°C, and Kupwara settled at 18.2°C.
In Jammu, the minimum temperature was recorded at 26.6°C, slightly above normal for the winter capital. Banihal recorded 17.8°C, Batote saw 19.1°C, Katra settled at 22.6°C, and Bhaderwah recorded 17.9°C.
The weather conditions indicate a mix of cloud cover and the possibility of light rain in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
